Sodium silicate is a colorless, slightly colored semi transparent or transparent block shaped glass body. The larger the modulus of sodium silicate, the more difficult it is to dissolve solid sodium silicate in water. When n is 1, it can be dissolved in room temperature water, but when n is increased, it requires hot water to dissolve. When n is greater than 3, it requires more than 4 atmospheres of steam to dissolve. The larger the modulus of sodium silicate, the higher the Si content, the higher the viscosity of sodium silicate, making it easier to decompose and harden, and the stronger the bonding force. Moreover, the degree of polymerization of sodium silicate varies with different moduli, resulting in significant differences in the silicate components that have important impacts on production and application in its hydrolysis products. Therefore, sodium silicate with different moduli has different uses

Application:

Sodium silicate is the most valuable filler in the soap industry. Adding sodium silicate to laundry soap can buffer its alkalinity, reduce its loss in water, enhance its washing ability, and prevent soap spoilage.
Sodium silicate plays the role of washing aid, anti-corrosion and stabilizing foam in synthetic detergent.
Can be used as a filler for papermaking.
It is used to manufacture silicon gel and silica gel.
Used as a binder in the foundry industry, bonding sand and clay to produce various molds and cores that people need.
