Diethyl oxalate
Colorless oily liquid with aromatic smell. 0785 (20 / 4 ℃). 6 ℃. The boiling point is 185.4 ℃. The refractive index Nd (20 ℃) is 1.4101. 5 J / g. 81 J / (g ·℃). It is miscible with ethanol, ether, acetone and other common solvents. It is slightly soluble in water and gradually decomposed by water.
Diethyl oxalate is mainly used for the intermediates of phenobarbital, barbituric malonate, triethylamine and sulfamethoxazole. It can also be used as the intermediates of dyestuff and plastics, as well as the solvent of fiber and perfume and the synthesis of organic compounds.
